The Lincoln-Lancaster County Genealogical Society (LLCGS) is offering two different sessions at the Lincoln City Libraries this coming Sunday, February 17.
The second of three community genealogy classes in conjunction with Lincoln City Libraries' One Book One Lincoln will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Eiseley Branch Library. This will focus on the period 1860 - 1880 in U.S. history. Topics include census records; using databases, historic maps, timelines and newspapers; and civil war resources. The hour-long class will be followed by personal research with a genealogist from LLCGS.

Tablet Computing for Genealogy - Slide show

LLCGS Conducts Workshops for One Book One Lincoln
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Genealogical Society (LLCGS) is teaming up with Lincoln City Libraries to offer family history workshops in three upcoming events in support of One Book One Lincoln.
"Troubled Times: 1860-1880 - Your Family History Connections" focuses on researching families in the post Civil War era as described in Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard.
Workshop topics include: Making Sense of the Census using Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com; Using A-Z Database, historical maps, timelines and newspapers; and Civil War resources. The highlight of the workshops will be personal research with a genealogist from LLCGS. Sessions are free to the public.
Workshops will be from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. February 10 at Walt Branch Library, 6701 S. 14th St; February 17, Eisely Branch Library, 1530 Superior St; and February 24 at South Branch Library, 2675 South Street; all in Lincoln, Nebraska
