Homestead Act of 1862 and Upcoming Anniversary Events
Susan Cook and Blake Bell from the Homestead National Monument of America in Beatrice will also join us to provide information about numerous creative activities designed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Homestead Act of 1862. LLCGS members who have ancestors who homesteaded at any location in the U.S. are encouraged to bring a written summary (250 words or less) describing the who, where, when and how of that experience. In addition, if you have any documents of the Homestead agreement, please bring a photocopy. We're compiling a record of LLCGS homestead stories and plan to have a map on our web site noting the locations of those homesteads.
